Eating Eggs

Farm Fresh Eggs Delivered Right to Your Door!

Griffin's Banty Shanty offers fresh, locally sourced eating egg deliveries in the Harrison County area. Our eggs are collected daily to ensure optimal freshness. To maintain quality, we have established a separate flock dedicated solely to egg production, free of roosters, guaranteeing that all eggs are unfertilized.

Our current pricing is $3 per dozen, and we are committed to keeping it as affordable as possible. However, due to rising feed costs and ongoing challenges related to avian influenza, prices may be subject to change if necessary.

We limit egg orders to three dozen per delivery each week to ensure availability for more families. Orders open Monday mornings and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once we reach our weekly limit, ordering closes.

Please note that egg production can vary due to weather and other natural factors. While we do our best to maintain steady supply, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hatching Eggs

Serama - Hen's Choice

At The Shanty, we offer a diverse selection of Seramas, including both traditional and Malaysian varieties. Our birds are bred to SOP and feature a range of feather styles, including frizzled, silkied, and the unique gypsy-faced Serama.  These small birds are exceptionally sweet-natured and make wonderful pets, bringing charm and companionship to any flock.

Zombie - Gen1 Backcrossed (F1BC)

The Zombie Chicken is rapidly gaining popularity as a unique hybrid. With its distinctive dark skin, dusty appearance, and occasional heterochromia, this breed stands out both visually and functionally. Known for its excellent laying abilities, it is a practical and intriguing addition to any flock.

Fibro Easter Eggers - Hen's Choice

Fibro Easter Eggers combine the striking beauty of the Ayam Cemani with the excitement of colored eggs. As hybrids, they exhibit a variety of appearances and do not breed true. Being first-generation Easter Eggers, there is a possibility of hens laying brown or pink eggs in addition to blue or green. With hens typically producing 3–5 eggs per week, they make a unique and lively addition to any flock.

Important Considerations When Purchasing Hatching Eggs

Purchasing hatching eggs carries inherent risks, and while every effort is made to provide high-quality, viable eggs, several factors beyond my control may affect the outcome:

  • Hen's Choice:  When purchasing hatching eggs, please note that there is no guarantee of a specific color, feather type, or variation. Eggs are collected daily but will be selected and delivered based on the order in which they were laid, rather than their pen of origin.
  • Incubation Success: There is no guarantee that hatching eggs will successfully hatch. Hatch rates can be impacted by various factors, including egg handling, shipping conditions, and incubation methods.
  • Egg Quality: While eggs are carefully selected, some defects or issues may not be immediately visible and could affect embryo development or hatchability.
  • Shipping Risks: Eggs are fragile and may sustain damage during transit. Additionally, environmental conditions and shipping times can influence egg viability.
  • Health and Development: Even if eggs hatch successfully, I cannot guarantee the health or normal development of the chicks, as multiple factors contribute to their growth and well-being.
  • Legal and Zoning Compliance: Buyers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all local laws and regulations regarding the ownership and care of poultry or other birds.
  • Refunds and Replacements: Refunds are not offered for hatching eggs. However, replacements may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Buyers should clarify refund and replacement policies with me prior to purchase.

Support & Conduct Expectations

While hatching eggs come with inherent risks, I am committed to customer satisfaction and will do my best to assist if you experience poor hatch rates or lack of embryo development. I am happy to troubleshoot and help determine potential causes of the issue.  However, any overly rude or accusatory behavior will not be tolerated, and such interactions will result in immediate suspension of communication regardless of resolution. By purchasing hatching eggs, you acknowledge and accept these risks. I strongly encourage buyers to research proper incubation techniques and best practices to maximize hatch success.
