The NPIP testing is a voluntary federal-state cooperative program designed for poultry breeders, hatcheries, and individuals who intend to sell, ship, or exhibit poultry or hatching eggs. It helps ensure that poultry is free from specific diseases.
The Shanty is an Indiana NPIP Authorized Agent.
To participate in NPIP exhibitions in Indiana, 10% of your flock must be blood tested when the birds are between 16 and 24 weeks old, with a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 300 birds tested.
All participants in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) are required to ensure that their flocks meet the classification of U.S. Salmonella Pullorum-Typhoid (P-T) Clean. This designation confirms that the flock has been tested and is free from Pullorum Disease and Typhoid, helping to prevent the spread of these serious poultry diseases and maintain overall flock health.
